What is CYC? Today’s high school and college campuses are filled with images and teachings which are contrary to the existence of God and his creation. CYC is committed to changing popular culture through art, politics & media by promoting ideas and activism, which will shape a new direction on high school and college campuses.
Why art? In early Christian history art was used to express the beauty of Gods creation. It is only until modern times has art been used as inward reflection and self gratification. Our desire is to see a new generation of artists who will bring to light images and sounds which will bring life to our culture.
Why politics? Politics is the mechanism for change in our culture. The early American church was active in politics because they understood that freedom of religion was a fast track to sharing the “good news” with their culture. Freedom of religion is the true test to mans free will and love for Jesus. Today politicians have been elected who say one thing and do another, our desire is to support and elect people of integrity and faith to change our culture for the better.
Why media? Today’s media spoon feeds the publics appetite for entertainment, news & music. CYC is committed to raising up a new generation of movie makers, journalists & musicians. Media helps to shape the perception of issues and set the facts straight when it comes to popular culture. We desire to inspire & train teens and & 20 some things to impact their culture through these different medias.
Are you guys just the latest bible thumpers? NO. We are actually bible lovers. The bible is filled with wonderful truths which help guide our lives. We are not looking to impose our ideas on others but rather effectively convey truth in love to the popular culture.
How do I start a CYC group on my campus? How serious are you about impacting your culture? If you are committed to our cause we would be more than happy to sign you up and provide you with the materials you need to start a CYC group. We are looking for out-of-the-box thinkers solely committed to recruiting other like minded people and who aren’t afraid to push forward on a new bold agenda of changing the culture.
